Okay, so, I need to write more. I haven’t written since before GDC, and it’s been a wild few months since then.
Most of my time has been spent working on Trigger Happy, and I also have another project that’ll be making its way to the foreground soon. I’ve thought quite a bit about things to write recently, but my last couple pieces (one about Farmville and one about nostalgia in games) just haven’t made it up to where I’d like them to be yet. I promise I’ll be writing more soon — especially since I’d like to say a few words on Square-Enix’s new iPhone game “Chaos Rings”, which I’ve been enjoying quite a bit recently.
In the meantime, I’ve been doing a LOT of coding, a LOT of job applications, and trying my best to keep my head on straight. I’ve also written a few tracks for Trigger Happy, one of which made it into the product as it stands and two of which didn’t quite fit. I’ll be showcasing a couple more of these on this site at some point, and may consider something to the effect of “Finding The Right Guitar Sound”.

Setting up a Wordpress theme on this blog turned out to be a much bigger challenge than I anticipated.
I’d originally decided on a darker theme, but left myself open to lighter themes as well. I toyed around with a few different styles, and settled on a lighter theme that had icon that I wasn’t totally happy with.
This bugged me for a while, and I finally decided to do something about while doing laundry before GDC. I played around with a bunch of themes (including bbrose, which I totally love but just didn’t fit here) and finally settled on Suffusion, which is gorgeous in its own way.
Of course, no theme is perfect right away. I had to toy around with the settings, and at 1AM on a poor wireless connection in Los Angeles it was just a bit overwhelming. However, the most important part for usability, direct links to my portfolio and about pages, was relatively simple to set up. I’ll probably toy around with it a bit more, but I don’t expect any more extensive visual changes anytime soon. My only concern is the use of the dark red; I think it looks great, but some of the links are difficult to read. I’ll have to look into that when I’m not so exhausted.
Two days to GDC. Wow.
After many months of labor, my portfolio is finally beautified and live!
Expect an update to it soon to keep it current.
Selene Dreams — the personal site of Sela Davis (me!) — is now live.
In this blog I’ll be discussing topics related to game design, the game industry, audio, programming, and metalsmithing. These are some of the things I find interesting / dedicate my life to.
And to quickly answer a question I get often: yes, I’m actually a metalsmith!
